Halloween Legends & Lore

Halloween Legends & Lore at Old World Wisconsin is one of the most unique Halloween events in Wisconsin, transforming the state’s largest outdoor living history museum into an unforgettable nighttime celebration of folklore, ghost stories, and family-friendly Halloween fun. Held each October in Eagle, Wisconsin, this immersive event invites visitors to explore the historic Crossroads Village after dark, where costumed storytellers, live performances, seasonal games, and supernatural legends inspired by Wisconsin’s early immigrant communities bring centuries of Halloween traditions to life. Rather than relying on haunted house scares, Halloween Legends & Lore combines authentic history with atmospheric storytelling, making it one of the best Halloween events for families, history lovers, and anyone looking for a memorable fall experience in Wisconsin.

As you wander lantern-lit streets lined with more than 60 restored historic buildings, you’ll discover eerie tales rooted in Danish, Finnish, German, Irish, Norwegian, Polish, Pomeranian, and other European traditions carried to Wisconsin during the 1800s. Along the way, enjoy live entertainment, interactive experiences, festive photo opportunities, seasonal treats, hot food, drinks, and shopping, all set against the backdrop of a beautiful autumn evening. Every stop throughout the village reveals another piece of folklore or local legend, creating an immersive Halloween experience unlike any other in the Midwest.

Because of its combination of Wisconsin history, Halloween folklore, and family-friendly entertainment, Halloween Legends & Lore has become one of the state’s most anticipated annual October events. Advanced tickets are required and frequently sell out weeks in advance, so early reservations are strongly recommended. Whether you’re searching for the best Halloween events in Wisconsin, family-friendly Halloween activities near Milwaukee, fall festivals in Wisconsin, or things to do in October, Old World Wisconsin’s Halloween Legends & Lore offers an unforgettable evening where history, storytelling, and the spirit of Halloween come together in one extraordinary experience.
