About
Every February, Lake Geneva Winterfest transforms downtown Lake Geneva into one of Wisconsin’s premier winter festivals, drawing thousands of visitors to experience spectacular snow sculptures, lakeside entertainment, bonfires on the beach, and winter activities. Centered around Riviera Plaza and Flat Iron Park on the shores of Geneva Lake, the event is best known for hosting the nationally recognized America’s Snow Sculpting Invitational, where elite teams from across the country compete to create breathtaking works of art from enormous blocks of snow. Whether you’re planning a winter getaway or looking for unique Lake Geneva activities in February, Winterfest offers one of the Midwest’s most memorable cold-weather experiences.
The festival’s biggest attraction is the Lake Geneva snow sculpting competition, where professional three-person teams spend days transforming massive 10-foot cubes of compacted snow into intricate sculptures using only hand tools. Visitors can watch the sculptures take shape throughout the competition before judges select the winning entries based on creativity, craftsmanship, technical skill, and artistic design. The completed snow sculptures remain on display during the festival, giving guests plenty of opportunities to admire the remarkable artwork, vote for the People’s Choice Award, and capture unforgettable photos of some of the finest Lake Geneva ice sculptures and snow art on display anywhere in Wisconsin.
Beyond the championship snow sculpting, Lake Geneva Winterfest features a variety of family-friendly attractions throughout downtown, including an Ice Sculpture Walk, live entertainment, bonfires along Riviera Beach, shopping, restaurants, specialty vendors, and festive winter activities overlooking Geneva Lake. Whether you’re visiting for the nationally acclaimed snow sculpting competition, searching for the best Lake Geneva ice sculptures, or simply looking for one of Wisconsin’s top winter events, Winterfest delivers an unforgettable weekend filled with creativity, community, and spectacular seasonal scenery.
