About
Slay The Lake LGBTQ+ Horror Book Fest returns to The Final Girl in Kenosha, bringing a wave of queer horror authors, radical imagination, and unapologetic creativity to Wisconsin’s lakeshore. The horror themed bar becomes a meeting ground for readers and writers who understand that the genre has always belonged to outsiders, survivors, and those bold enough to confront the dark head on.
Founded by authors Jessie Rose and RE Bunch, Slay The Lake has already connected dozens of writers and small businesses with hundreds of readers while raising funds for LGBTQ+ organizations and local charities. This year the fest continues that spirit of generosity with a book drive benefiting LGBT Books To Prisoners, expanding access to stories that offer courage, catharsis, and escape. Horror reflects the anxieties of its era, and this gathering centers queer voices who are reshaping what fear looks like on the page.
