Glenbeulah Cemetery
151 Walnut St, Glenbeulah, WI 53023
Walnut Grove Cemetery, better known as Glenbeulah Cemetery, is regarded by many as the most haunted cemetery in Wisconsin. The old burial ground rests atop a hill at the end of a winding road, and is surrounded by trees. It has graves dating back to the mid-1800s, many of them fallen over and broken.
According to local legend, a man once tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the cemetery. As he dropped, however, the force caused the rope to tear through his neck and sever his head. His head, they say, rolled down the hill into town.
The apparition of this man has been seen wandering among the gravestones after midnight.
There are rumors of glowing graves, a gravestone where shoes appear and vanish, and loud, strange noises have been heard.
Visitors often leave offerings of toys and stuffed animals at the grave of Grace Baumann, who died just five days after her birth in 1943. It may be little Grace that has been seen watching from beside a large tree, lost and alone.
Glenbeulah Cemetery is said to have appeared on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries in which investigators captured real evidence of paranormal activity.
The cemetery’s hours are strictly enforced due to vandalism and rumors of Satanic rituals.
Not far from the cemetery is the haunted Glenbeulah School.
