About
Dr. Destruction’s Haunted Manor brings the horror-host world of Dale Wamboldt, better known as Dr. Destruction, to life at Jerry Smith Pumpkin Farm in Somers, Wisconsin. Wamboldt has been part of Kenosha’s horror scene for decades and has hosted Dr. Destruction’s Crimson Theatre since 2001. His haunted attraction grew from the same love of classic monsters that defines his horror-host persona, giving the Manor a distinctly old-school horror identity.
The attraction has a long history at Jerry Smith Farm, where earlier versions were known as Dr. Destruction’s Haunted Forest. A 2010 firsthand account described a winding route through the attraction with a corn-maze layout, costumed “spooks,” classic monsters and a deliberately theatrical entrance modeled after the gypsy wagon from The Wolf Man. Dr. Destruction’s attraction is part haunted house, part tribute to the classic horror movies that inspired its creator, making it an especially interesting stop for fans of vintage monsters and Wisconsin’s homegrown horror-host tradition.
Today, the Haunted Manor operates as a paid haunted-house attraction at Jerry Smith Farm in the Somers/Kenosha area. The farm’s fall season includes the haunted house alongside its pumpkin displays, corn maze and other autumn attractions, making it easy to combine a trip to the Manor with a full fall visit.
