Field of Screams

If you think a Wisconsin farm is supposed to be peaceful after dark, Field of Screams Haunted Trail & Barn in Eau Claire is here to ruin that idea. Located at Rockin T-R Ranch on Curvue Road, this seasonal haunted attraction combines an outdoor terror trail with terrifying barn environments, putting you on foot and in the dark with creatures, scare actors and surprises waiting around the next corner. The experience has continued to expand, including the addition of a hayride and another barn, and organizers say visitors should expect roughly an hour of scares. It is an intense haunt aimed at teens and adults rather than young children.

What makes Field of Screams especially interesting is the scale behind this community-run Halloween tradition. In its 14th year, the attraction assembled roughly 150 scare actors, with volunteers and organizers beginning preparations months before opening. The haunt also serves a purpose beyond frightening people: proceeds support Chippewa Valley organizations including Feed My People, the Eau Claire County 4-H Older Youth Council, Pleasant Hill Go-Getters 4-H Club and Warehouse Warriors. That combination of a serious local fundraiser and a surprisingly elaborate haunted experience makes Field of Screams one of the Eau Claire area’s standout Halloween attractions.
