Good Shit Video is a throwback video store devoted to the preservation and celebration of physical media. The shop opened in October 2025 after owner Mick Cleary, frustrated by the disappearance of traditional video rental stores, decided to turn his extensive personal collection into a public storefront. Inside, visitors will find shelves of VHS tapes, DVDs, and Blu-rays ranging from mainstream releases to rare cult titles, with a particular emphasis on horror films and other genre cinema.
Good Shit Video strives to keep the tactile, collectible experience of movie culture alive in an era dominated by streaming. The shop stocks releases from boutique distributors such as Criterion, Vinegar Syndrome, and Severin Films, making it a haven for collectors and film nerds hunting for obscure or restored editions. Cleary originally tested the concept through pop-up markets before opening the permanent storefront, and the store has quickly become a gathering place for Milwaukee’s cult-film community, with plans for trades, screenings, and other events aimed at celebrating the weird, rare, and beloved corners of cinema.
