About
Green Bay Fear is a long-running haunted attraction at the Beja Shrine Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where more than two decades of Halloween history have turned 1950 Bond St. into a destination for serious scare seekers. The attraction’s current storyline puts you in the path of Dr. Kransberg, a deranged scientist who has spent decades trying to create life from nothing. His experiments produce mutants and monsters using Kransbergium, a serum whose secret ingredient is supposedly corrupted souls. The result is a nightmare built around Kransberg’s attempt to assemble an army for his employer, Charles Fearstien, with guests caught in the middle.
One of Green Bay Fear’s most distinctive features is Shawano Manor, a historic-looking mansion with an even stranger backstory. According to the attraction’s legend, lumber tycoon Jaden West built the original mansion on the shores of Shawano Lake before his mutilated body was discovered in 1894. After a constable took possession of the property, he reportedly went insane after encountering something inside, and stories of spirits continued as the mansion deteriorated. When the state planned to demolish Shawano Manor in 2000, Green Bay Fear says it worked with the salvage company to preserve what remained and relocate the structure to Taylor and Bond Streets, where it became part of the haunt. Green Bay Fear is also a charity-benefiting attraction operated with a large volunteer crew, adding a distinctly community-driven side to one of Green Bay’s longest-running Halloween traditions.
Green Bay Fear has historically expanded beyond the main haunted house with attractions including the Howling Hallow(s), Mr. Jingles’ Funhouse and a Haunted Midway, while the Beja Shrine’s Haunters Guild describes its operation as encompassing a haunted house, haunted woods and midway. The attraction has been presented as one of Northeast Wisconsin’s major Halloween haunts for more than 20 years, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone building a Green Bay haunted house itinerary.
