About
OMEN Alternative in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood is a newer destination for goth, punk, emo, metal, horror, and other alternative subcultures. Owner Natalie Gajewski opened Omen in 2022 in South Milwaukee before relocating to its larger Bay View storefront at 2649 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. in May 2026. The shop carries far more than black clothing: expect statement dresses and pants, shoes, jewelry, collars and cuffs, patches, pins, bags, books, candles, fragrances, and other strange and spooky goods. Many of the brands are small, women-owned, or queer-owned businesses, with Milwaukee-made products also represented.
Omen also doubles as an alternative record and media shop, with vinyl spanning punk, metal, industrial, darkwave, post-punk, new wave, electronic and other underground sounds. The store’s shelves extend into horror and pop-culture merchandise, books, posters, stickers and other collectibles, making it as much a browsing destination as a clothing store. Gajewski has described Omen as a modern take on the old-school Hot Topic of the late 1990s and early 2000s, but built around independent brands and a broader range of alternative subcultures. The Bay View location gives Milwaukee something considerably more specific than another mall alternative-fashion chain: a physical place to find the clothes, music and weird stuff that normally requires hunting across multiple stores or ordering online.
