The Realm of Darkness

The Realm of Darkness is an intense, interactive haunted house in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, where guests aren’t just spectators walking past a series of scares. The attraction puts you inside the experience with detailed horror sets, costumed actors, special effects, and interactive elements designed to make you part of the story. Located just off Highway 41 at W2091 County Road JJ, it’s an easy Halloween-season stop for horror fans in the Kaukauna, Appleton, and Fox Cities area.

The haunt grew out of a homegrown project created by Dalton Polomis and Ben Hurst, who started building haunted attractions in their garages before turning their shared obsession with scare design into The Realm of Darkness. That hands-on approach remains part of the attraction’s identity, with original sets and scares built around immersion rather than simply filling a building with jump scares. Expect extreme audio and lighting, low visibility, fog and haze, strobe effects, uneven walkways, and a physically demanding experience as you encounter creatures, clowns, and other nightmares along the way.

The Realm of Darkness uses timed admission to help control lines, with limited tickets available for each 30-minute entry window. Guests can also opt for Fastpass admission for expedited entry. There’s onsite parking, heated indoor waiting space for more than 200 people, and food and merchandise available at the attraction, making it more than a quick walk through a haunted house. The experience is not recommended for children under 12, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
