About
Screamin’ Acres is a large-scale haunted attraction in Stoughton, Wisconsin, delivering a continuous horror experience across more than 30,000 square feet plus an additional three-acre cornfield. Established in 2011 by Jacob Eugster, the haunt has grown from a small college-fundraising project into a major Southern Wisconsin Halloween attraction that has drawn tens of thousands of visitors from across the Midwest. Rather than buying separate tickets for individual haunts, guests move through all four attractions as one connected experience, with an average completion time of about 45 minutes.
The current lineup throws visitors into radically different nightmares, including the industrial wasteland of Chop Shop, where toxic contamination has twisted flesh and metal; LOCKUP, a ruined prison filled with deformed inmates, escape tunnels, toxic experiments, and the sinister laboratory of Warden Payne Naxxremis; and Side Effects, a reality-bending descent into the hallucinations and madness of former chemist Herman Von Richtmyer. Screamin’ Acres also offers DEATHTRAP, a complete-darkness maze built around sensory deprivation, static shocks, confined spaces, crawling, and other disorienting effects. With fog, strobe lighting, loud audio, tight passageways, uneven surfaces, and a mix of indoor and outdoor environments, Screamin’ Acres is designed for visitors looking for an intense haunted-house experience rather than a family-friendly Halloween attraction.
Located at 3865 WI-138 in Stoughton, Screamin’ Acres has become a recurring destination for horror fans in the Madison area and throughout Southern Wisconsin. The attraction’s emphasis on original storylines, elaborate environments, makeup effects, and a large cast of actors has helped establish it as one of the region’s better-known haunted attractions. Children under 12 are not recommended, and DEATHTRAP has additional restrictions because of its darkness, tight spaces, crawling, and sensory effects.
