About
The Shrine of St. Hubert, nestled in the woods of Marinette County, Wisconsin, is a unique tribute to the patron saint of hunters. In 1958, a group of local hunters discovered this spot and found it to be a nice place to take a break and eat a sandwich. They decided to build a shrine dedicated to St. Hubert, who, 1,300 years ago, is said to have encountered a stag with a cross in its antlers and heard the voice of God telling him to improve his life.
The shrine offers a tranquil spot to reflect and connect with nature. Visitors will find a hand-carved statue of St. Hubert, a commemorative soldier’s helmet, and the historic Walnut Street Bridge bell from Green Bay.
The site attracts visitors from around the world and hosts an annual ceremony every August, honoring hunters and offering prayers for safety and success in the woods.
