About
Spooks on Spurr is a haunted attraction in New London, Wisconsin, built around the old “Spurr Mansion,” a striking house dating to the 1800s. Since opening as a haunt in 2018, the property has transformed its historic house and surrounding woods into two distinct experiences: the Mansion of Misery and the Forest of Freaks. Inside the mansion, rooms and corridors become a full-scale horror walkthrough, while the adjacent forest takes the scares outside, putting you in the dark among the trees with actors, fog, strobe lighting, and plenty of opportunities for something to come out of nowhere.
What sets Spooks on Spurr apart from the typical Wisconsin haunted house is what happens between the scares. Rather than spending the night standing in a conventional queue, guests can hang around the property, warm up around a bonfire, listen to live music, and grab food and drinks at Uncle Luther’s Tavern while waiting for their number to be called. The haunt is explicitly R-rated, and the attraction warns that actors can touch guests, with mature language, alcohol, smoking outdoors, disturbing imagery, fog, and strobe effects all part of the experience. For anyone looking for an intense Wisconsin haunted attraction that feels as much like a Halloween night out as a haunted house, Spooks on Spurr is one of the more distinctive stops in the New London area.
