Terror at the Fair

Every October, the Kenosha County Fairgrounds in Wilmot become something considerably less wholesome than a county fair. Terror at the Fair transforms the grounds into a full-scale Halloween attraction built around multiple haunted experiences and a Monster Midway populated by evil carnies, clowns, farmers, fortune tellers and other assorted nightmares. The terror begins at the red barn and continues through dark, foggy paths where you never quite know whether you’re headed toward a harmless field or the carnival from Hell. The 2026 season opens October 3 and runs on select nights through Halloween.

The current lineup includes Soul Reapers, where murky paths through the nighttime fairgrounds lead toward whatever is waiting in the darkness; The Dwellings, where sinister carnies have taken over a fairgrounds barn and aren’t particularly happy to have visitors; Twisted Chaos, a bloody farm-themed nightmare where humans may be headed for the meat grinder; Midway of Terror, where roaming evil carnies and clowns make even standing in line part of the experience; and CarniGore, a twisted carnival built around the fear of clowns. The attraction is spread across the Kenosha County Fairgrounds at 30820 111th St. in Wilmot, just west of Kenosha and a few minutes north of the Illinois state line. Free parking is available on the north end of the grounds, and the attraction operates rain, shine or snow unless extreme weather forces a cancellation.
