Ed Gein was known as the Mad Butcher of Plainfield when authorities investigating the disappearance of a local hardware store owner discovered Gein’s house was full of human remains that belonged to people he murdered or exhumed from local cemeteries. His crimes shocked the world in 1957, and they’re still horrifying us to this day.
