Welcome to Wisconsin Frights. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Wisconsin Frights website, including its directory, listings, articles, reviews, comments, photographs, videos, events, tours, location information, user accounts, and other features and services (collectively, the “Site”).
Wisconsin Frights is an independently operated website providing information, entertainment, editorial content, and directory services relating to unusual, historical, haunted, paranormal, offbeat, and other destinations, events, businesses, and subjects in Wisconsin.
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing, browsing, creating an account on, submitting content to, reviewing a listing, submitting a review, or otherwise using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
These Terms apply to all visitors, users, reviewers, contributors, businesses, listing owners, advertisers, and other persons who access or interact with the Site.
If you use the Site on behalf of a business, organization, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.
2. Nature of the Site
Wisconsin Frights is an information and entertainment website and directory. The Site may contain information about haunted locations, abandoned structures, historical sites, unusual destinations, businesses, attractions, events, tours, paranormal reports, legends, folklore, alleged sightings, true-crime subjects, and other matters of public interest.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Wisconsin Frights is not the owner, operator, manager, employee, agent, representative, or authorized spokesperson of any location, business, attraction, event, tour, property owner, government agency, organization, or other third party listed or discussed on the Site.
A listing on Wisconsin Frights does not mean that Wisconsin Frights owns, controls, operates, endorses, guarantees, or has any legal relationship with the listed property or business.
3. Information Is Provided for General Informational and Entertainment Purposes
Information on the Site may include historical information, user-submitted information, publicly available information, editorial material, reviews, opinions, folklore, legends, paranormal claims, photographs, directions, addresses, operating information, prices, dates, hours, admission information, accessibility information, and other details.
We attempt to provide useful and accurate information, but information may become outdated, incomplete, inaccurate, unavailable, or incorrect.
Businesses may change ownership, hours, prices, policies, admission requirements, locations, operating status, or other conditions without notifying Wisconsin Frights.
Events may be canceled, postponed, relocated, sold out, or otherwise changed.
Locations may be closed, inaccessible, dangerous, privately owned, restricted, demolished, renovated, relocated, or subject to access restrictions.
You are responsible for independently verifying important information directly with the relevant property owner, business, event organizer, government agency, or other appropriate source before relying upon it.
Wisconsin Frights does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, availability, or reliability of information appearing on the Site.
4. No Permission to Enter Property
A Wisconsin Frights listing, article, photograph, map, address, GPS coordinate, description, or other information does not constitute permission or authorization to enter any property.
You must independently determine whether you have lawful permission to enter a location.
You must obey all posted signs, gates, fences, barriers, closures, warnings, laws, ordinances, property rules, and instructions from property owners, occupants, employees, law enforcement officers, government officials, event organizers, and other authorized persons.
You must not enter private property without permission.
You must not enter abandoned, vacant, condemned, restricted, closed, fenced, posted, secured, or otherwise inaccessible property without lawful authorization.
You must not cross fences, barriers, locked gates, construction areas, warning areas, or other restrictions in order to access a location.
You must immediately leave property when instructed to do so by an owner, occupant, employee, law enforcement officer, or other person legally authorized to require you to leave.
Nothing on the Site should be interpreted as encouraging, directing, authorizing, facilitating, or approving trespassing.
You are solely responsible for determining whether your intended activity and access to a location are lawful.

You assume full responsibility for evaluating the risks associated with any activity or location you choose to visit.
Wisconsin Frights does not inspect, certify, monitor, maintain, or guarantee the safety of locations listed or discussed on the Site.
Do not enter a location merely because it appears on Wisconsin Frights.
If a location is closed, restricted, private, unsafe, or inaccessible, do not enter it.
If you encounter a dangerous condition, leave the area and contact the appropriate property owner or authorities when appropriate.
6. Directions, Maps, Coordinates, and Location Information
The Site may provide addresses, maps, directions, coordinates, landmarks, parking information, or other information intended to help users locate a destination.
Such information may be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or affected by changes to roads, property boundaries, access routes, construction, closures, weather, or other circumstances.
GPS coordinates or directions do not establish property rights or provide permission to enter a location.
You are responsible for confirming that your route and destination are lawful and safe.
Do not rely exclusively on Wisconsin Frights for navigation, emergency response, property boundaries, or access information.
7. Reviews and User-Generated Content
The Site may permit users to submit reviews, ratings, comments, photographs, videos, stories, reports, recommendations, corrections, or other material (“User Content”).
Users are solely responsible for the User Content they submit.
You represent and warrant that:
- your User Content is truthful and based on your actual experience or knowledge to the extent it purports to describe a personal experience;
- you have the rights necessary to submit the User Content;
- you have permission to submit photographs or other material depicting people or private property when such permission is legally required;
- your User Content does not knowingly contain false statements presented as fact;
- your User Content does not unlawfully disclose private, confidential, medical, financial, or personally identifying information about another person;
- your User Content does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
- your User Content does not contain threats, harassment, hate speech, pornography, malicious code, or unlawful material; and
- your User Content does not encourage unlawful conduct, trespassing, vandalism, property damage, or dangerous activity.
Reviews should distinguish between firsthand observations, opinions, allegations, historical information, and speculation.
You should not present rumors or unverified allegations as established facts.
8. Reviews Are the Opinions and Experiences of Their Authors
Reviews submitted by users represent the opinions, experiences, and statements of the individual reviewers.
A review does not necessarily represent the views or opinions of Wisconsin Frights.
Wisconsin Frights does not independently verify every factual statement contained in every review and does not guarantee that reviews are accurate, complete, unbiased, or genuine.
A negative review is not, by itself, grounds for removal.
Wisconsin Frights reserves the right to remove, refuse, edit for formatting or compliance, restrict, or otherwise moderate User Content that violates these Terms or applicable law, including content that is defamatory, clearly false or misleading, harassing, abusive, unlawful, irrelevant, invasive of privacy, discriminatory, obscene, threatening, fraudulent, spam, or otherwise inappropriate for the Site.
Wisconsin Frights will not remove or suppress a lawful review merely because a business dislikes the review or because the review is negative.
Nothing in these Terms prohibits or restricts a person’s lawful right to provide an honest review or opinion.
9. Business Responses and Disputes Concerning Reviews
Businesses may have opportunities to respond to reviews or contact Wisconsin Frights regarding inaccurate, unlawful, or otherwise problematic content.
A business disagreement with a review does not automatically establish that the review is false or unlawful.
Wisconsin Frights may, in its discretion, consider information supplied by a business, reviewer, property owner, or other interested party when evaluating disputed content.
Wisconsin Frights is not required to act as a fact-finder, arbitrator, mediator, investigator, or court in disputes between reviewers and businesses.
Wisconsin Frights may decline to remove a review when the dispute concerns a legitimate difference of opinion, a reviewer’s subjective experience, or a matter that cannot reasonably be resolved by the information available to Wisconsin Frights.
10. Prohibited Reviews and User Content
You may not submit User Content that:
- is knowingly false or fraudulent
- falsely claims that you visited, purchased from, worked for, or otherwise interacted with a business or location

- contains content that is otherwise unlawful or inappropriate for the Site
11. Paid, Sponsored, and Featured Listings
Wisconsin Frights may offer paid advertising, sponsored posts, featured listings, promotional placements, social-media promotion, newsletter promotion, or other commercial opportunities.
Payment for advertising or enhanced placement does not necessarily mean that Wisconsin Frights endorses or guarantees the advertised business, product, service, event, or experience.
Sponsored or paid content may be identified as advertising, sponsored, promoted, featured, or by another appropriate disclosure.
Businesses do not have the right to demand the removal of independent editorial coverage, lawful negative reviews, or other content merely because they advertise with Wisconsin Frights.
Advertising relationships do not guarantee editorial coverage, rankings, reviews, ratings, search placement, traffic, referrals, sales, or any particular business result.
12. Editorial Independence
Wisconsin Frights may publish editorial content based on its own research, reporting, observations, interviews, historical sources, public records, submissions, or other information.
Editorial decisions, rankings, inclusion decisions, descriptions, reviews, and recommendations are made at the sole editorial discretion of Wisconsin Frights unless expressly stated otherwise.
A business’s advertising relationship with Wisconsin Frights does not automatically determine its editorial treatment.
Wisconsin Frights may publish favorable, unfavorable, neutral, or mixed coverage.
13. Paranormal, Supernatural, Historical, and Unverified Claims
Wisconsin Frights may publish stories involving ghosts, hauntings, cryptids, UFOs, unexplained phenomena, folklore, legends, alleged paranormal experiences, historical accounts, and other claims that may not be scientifically verified.
Such material may be presented as reported, alleged, claimed, believed, rumored, historical, folkloric, or otherwise described by its source.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Wisconsin Frights does not represent that paranormal or supernatural claims are scientifically proven or objectively established facts.
Users should exercise their own judgment when evaluating such material.
14. Third-Party Businesses, Events, Tours, and Services
Wisconsin Frights may provide information about third-party businesses, attractions, tours, events, lodging, restaurants, museums, entertainment venues, and other services.
Wisconsin Frights is not responsible for the acts, omissions, products, services, representations, policies, employees, contractors, safety practices, pricing, cancellations, injuries, property damage, customer service, or other conduct of third parties.
Any transaction, reservation, purchase, admission, tour, event attendance, lodging stay, or other interaction you have with a third party is solely between you and that third party.
You should review the third party’s own terms, policies, warnings, cancellation rules, age restrictions, safety requirements, and other conditions before participating.
15. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites, social-media accounts, booking platforms, maps, ticketing services, businesses, government websites, or other external resources.
Wisconsin Frights does not control or guarantee the availability, accuracy, security, privacy practices, content, products, services, or policies of third-party websites.
A link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement, recommendation, sponsorship, or affiliation.
You access third-party websites at your own risk.
16. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, the Site and its original content, including articles, text, graphics, logos, branding, design, photographs, videos, compilations, databases, and other materials created by or for Wisconsin Frights are owned by or licensed to Wisconsin Frights and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You may view and use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not reproduce, republish, scrape, systematically download, sell, license, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit Wisconsin Frights content without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
17. License to User Content
By submitting User Content to Wisconsin Frights, you grant Wisconsin Frights a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, publish, distribute, format, adapt, modify, promote, and otherwise use that User Content in connection with operating, promoting, developing, and improving Wisconsin Frights and its related websites, publications, social-media accounts, newsletters, advertising, and other media.
This license does not transfer ownership of your User Content to Wisconsin Frights.
You retain ownership of your original User Content, subject to the rights granted above.
You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant this license.
18. Copyright Complaints
If you believe material on the Site infringes your copyright, you may contact Wisconsin Frights with sufficient information to identify the allegedly infringing material and the basis for your claim.
Wisconsin Frights may remove or restrict allegedly infringing material while a claim is reviewed.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights or procedures available under applicable copyright law.
19. Privacy and Personal Information
Your use of the Site is also governed by the Wisconsin Frights Privacy Policy.
Do not submit sensitive personal information, passwords, financial information, medical information, private addresses, or other confidential information through public reviews, comments, listings, or other publicly visible areas of the Site.
Wisconsin Frights may remove content that creates an unreasonable privacy or safety risk.
20. Accounts and Account Security
If the Site permits user accounts, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity conducted through your account.
You must provide accurate information and must not create an account for another person without authorization.
Wisconsin Frights may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.
21. No Warranties

WISCONSIN FRIGHTS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE OR ANY CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR FREE FROM VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
22. Assumption of Risk
You voluntarily assume all risks associated with using information obtained through the Site and with visiting, traveling to, attending, participating in, or interacting with any location, event, business, attraction, tour, property, activity, or destination discovered through the Site.
This includes risks associated with ordinary tourism as well as risks associated with unusual, remote, abandoned, historical, outdoor, paranormal, or otherwise potentially hazardous locations and activities.
You are solely responsible for determining whether an activity or destination is appropriate for you and for taking reasonable precautions.
23. Release of Claims
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you release and hold harmless Wisconsin Frights and its owner, operators, employees, contractors, contributors, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns from claims arising out of or relating to:

27. Moderation and Removal of Content
Wisconsin Frights reserves the right, but does not assume an obligation, to monitor, review, moderate, restrict, disable, or remove content, accounts, listings, reviews, comments, photographs, or other material at any time when Wisconsin Frights believes doing so is appropriate, including for legal, safety, privacy, technical, editorial, or policy reasons.
Wisconsin Frights is not required to monitor all content or investigate every complaint.
Failure to remove particular content does not constitute an endorsement of that content or a determination that it complies with these Terms.
Wisconsin Frights may preserve or disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate suspected misconduct, or enforce these Terms.
28. Business Listings
Businesses and other organizations may submit or claim listings on the Site.
Listing owners are responsible for ensuring that information they submit is accurate and that they have authority to submit it.
Wisconsin Frights may edit, format, categorize, update, supplement, or remove listing information at its discretion.
A business listing does not constitute a representation that Wisconsin Frights has independently verified every statement made by the business.
Wisconsin Frights may retain editorial control over listing titles, descriptions, categories, photographs, tags, rankings, and other presentation elements.
29. No Professional Advice
Nothing on the Site constitutes legal, medical, financial, safety, engineering, law-enforcement, emergency-response, or other professional advice.
You should consult an appropriately qualified professional or relevant authority when professional advice is necessary.

You may not use the Site if you are under 13.

33. Termination
Wisconsin Frights may suspend or terminate your access to the Site, including your account or ability to submit User Content, at any time for violations of these Terms, suspected unlawful activity, abuse of the Site, security concerns, or other legitimate reasons.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including provisions concerning intellectual property, User Content, disclaimers, releases, limitations of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution, and governing law.
34. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent federal law controls.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be brought in a state or federal court located in Wisconsin, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
Before filing a lawsuit, you agree to provide Wisconsin Frights with written notice describing the dispute and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve the matter informally.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking emergency injunctive or other equitable relief when legally available.
35. Class Action Waiver
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, any dispute between you and Wisconsin Frights must be brought on an individual basis and not as a plaintiff or class member in a class, collective, consolidated, or representative action.
No court or arbitrator may consolidate the claims of multiple persons or otherwise preside over any representative proceeding except where applicable law expressly prohibits such a limitation.

If any provision of these Terms is determined to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
37. No Waiver
Wisconsin Frights’ failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce that provision later.
38. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other policies expressly incorporated into these Terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and Wisconsin Frights concerning your use of the Site, except where a separate written agreement expressly governs a particular service or transaction.
