There’s no place quite like Wisconsin Dells during the Christmas season. Sure, it may be the waterpark capital of the world, but there’s plenty wonder and Christmas joy to be had once the wave pools freeze over. If you’re looking for a unique Christmas getaway in Wisconsin, the Dells is an excellent choice as it brings its signature kitsch and quirk to the holiday season.
Here at Wisconsin Frights we’re always looking for the weirdest and/or most unique things to do and places to see. Unsurprisingly, the Dells never disappoints. So if you’re looking for some unusual and over-the-top holiday magic, here’s our guide to the best things to do in Wisconsin Dells for Christmas.
Tree of Light
First, take a stroll along the River Walk where more than 70 pine trees are decorated by local businesses. Want to see how Ripley’s Believe It or Not! decorates a Christmas tree? Now’s your chance. And that leads to the dazzling Tree of Light, a massive 55-foot maple festooned with thousands of lights. You can even see Santa there on the weekends.
The beloved Canadian Pacific Holiday Train of Lights brings its unique brand of holiday cheer to the Dells every year, where they open their doors and put on a show right from one of the train cars.
Mt. Olympus Nights of Lights
The Mt. Olympus theme park, home of the Trojan Horse with a go-kart track through its belly and America’s first slidewheel, is transformed into a magical wonderland of Christmas lights. Every weekend in December you can stroll through the half mile light show through the park with more than 2 million lights.
Christmas in the Dells Dinner Show
Enjoy the celebration of the birth of Christ with lasers, pyrotechnics, sugar plum fairies, soaring angels, dancing elves, enchanted reindeer, Jolly ol’ Saint Nick, singers, dancers, comedians, and a massive four-course feast! This multi-million dollar production is probably the most insane thing you’ll see all Christmas.
